Choosing flooring can be an *incredibly* difficult decision. When it came to deciding what flooring option to choose in our new build at Sunrise Valley Farm, I was grateful that I had already worked with an incredible company, Select Surfaces, and that we genuinely loved their flooring! (You can read more about our first experience with Select Surfaces here – we DIY installed their laminate flooring at our previous home in San Diego and loved it.)

This time, I knew we wanted a vinyl option (it’s 100% waterproof), and something in a lighter color. Our dog Napa is the best, but man oh man does she SHED. Her hair is light, so it shows up on dark floors like nobody’s business.
Select Surfaces sent me several samples to choose from, and we ultimately chose their Ridgid Core Vinyl Plank flooring in Sedona. It is the most beautiful color (and bonus – hide’s Napa hair VERY well ?). I knew I wanted a white oak type of look, and Sedona fit the bill perfectly.
BUT, Select Surfaces has a ton of color options to fit any home style. Grey? They’ve got it? Dark? Yup! Light? They have that too!
This time, we had a contractor install the flooring, and they confirmed what we already know from our own DIY experience – it is incredibly EASY to install! Each plank has a pre-attached foam backer which makes for a faster and easier installation process, and very little waste. Their vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof as I mentioned before (and their laminate is water resistant)
Something that was also very important to us, is that this flooring is Greenguard Gold certified for low VOC emissions. We are very dedicated to creating a non-toxic home for baby boy who is set to arrive soon, so this was a no-brainer decision for us!
The vinyl plank also feels wonderful underfoot and with the added texture and character (like knots and wood grain) that each plank has, it truly resembles real wood flooring.

I truly could not recommend Select Surfaces flooring more – whether you go with a vinyl plank flooring or laminate option, you really cannot go wrong. And did I mention how affordable they are (as of October 2023, the Sedona laminate is just $2.89/square foot)!? You can pick up (or order online) your favorite from a Sam’s Club near you!
And if you have any questions at all, drop them in the comments below – I’m happy to answer and continue to brag on these gorgeous floors!
Until next time, friends!
